MAIN TOURNAMENT Frequently Asked Questions

  • Spirit points are opportunities to collaborate or compete with other teams throughout the tournament and outside of your competitions! Spirit points are up for grabs throughout the entire MIST season, and some actions you can do to earn spirit points are being on time, being a team player/being supportive of other teams, being respectful of the venue, and more!

  • MIST NY Houses are teams of multiple schools working together to embody the Islamic traits of wisdom, clarity, peace, and patience! The goal is to build community through collaborating with other schools (while engaging in some friendly competition in earning spirit points). Whoever shines through and receives the most spirit points wins the coveted title of Most MISTified House!

  • Spirit Awards are awards that can be won with the spirit points you earn! Here are the awards you could win:

    • Cleanup Crew

    • Good Character

    • Best Merch

    • Best Banner

    • Workshop Warriors

    • Most Valuable Coach

    • Scavenger Hunt

    • Spirit Reels

    • Best Chant

    • Registration Racers

    • Most MISTified House

  • Early submission deadline: March 28th at 11:59 PM.

    • Arts: Digital Art | Photography 

    • Writing & Oratory: Poetry | Prepared Essay | Short Fiction

    • Groups: Business Venture | Humanitarian Service | Science Fair | Short Film | Social Media

  • There is a submission link provided in each competitor’s myMIST portal when they register for a competition that requires early submission

  • Practice with family and friends doing mock interviews

  • Teams with 25 members or fewer can form a coalition with up to two additional schools, masjids, or organizations. Teams with more than 25 members may only add up to five additional competitors from a different school to their team through a coalition.
